Dornbirn's local mountain,the Karren, towers dizzily over the town. And if that weren't enough, even the mountain restaurant gives the impression that it's hanging over the edge. By the way, you can walk back down to the bottom station of the cable car through the Rappenloch gorge.

The Glacier Express is probably the best known express train in the world. For the entire length of its route from Zermatt to St. Moritz, the train makes its way past rocky hillsides, forests and alpine meadows, and crosses innumerable rushing streams.  The section between Andermatt and Chur follows a sensational route over the Oberalp pass and through the Rhine gorge, constituting what is arguably the highlight of the entire trip.

Visit the Bregenzerwald's bee-keeping centre and exhibition schnapps distillery. In Vorarlberg the distilling of top-grade spirits has a centuries-old tradition. Interested visitors to the centre can learn all there is to know about bee-keeping techniques, bees, honey and, naturally, about the background of the production of schnapps and liqueurs.

The abbey precinct in St.Gallen is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Thanks to its rich decoration and perfect classical proportions, the grand hall in the abbey library is famed as the finest example of a Baroque interior in Switzerland and, indeed, as one of the most architecturally accomplished library buildings in the world.

The fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein was built on order of King Ludwig II. and construction began in 1868. Set on a craggy outcrop of rock against a dramatic mountain background it recreated, as Richard Wagner wrote, "the castle of an archetypal teutonic knight".
